There’s nothing in the bright red, microwavable bag but pure, simple potatoes, already peeled, cleaned of “spots” and cut up in small chunks. Ore Ida (I think) makes wonderful frozen mashed potatoes! I do a lot of slow cooker stuff though, and wanted to mention that there is a great “Happy Medium” between all the work of making homemade mashed potatoes and the “boxy” flavor of instant. The kids are long gone now, we have been married for 40 years, and I am disabled now and unable to spend much energy or time in the kitchen cooking meals for the two of us. This sounds very much like a recipe I used to make years back when I had time and energy to cook from scratch for the family. Thanks for the family harmony making recipe!įYI, making mashed potatoes in the ninja foodi/instapot pressure cooker is the way to go! I’ll never go back to the old way :) I will make this again and I will use the gravy mix because I am quite confident in my food knowledge and choices :) Husband loved it, and gave me an extra hug for orchestrating such a successful meal. She followed with a compliment on the great meal. Something she basically never does because of her food aversions. The other picky eater – my mother-in-law (sigh) – felt the need to apologize for “wolfing” down her food. Comfort food that can appeal to both ends of the spectrum of eaters. I also made it because I knew I’d like it, too. Instead of trying to do something unique like I often do, I thought of this as a way to appease them and keep me from being irritated as they pick at my food, make weird faces or whatever. For some reason it came to mind as I was preparing to make a meal for the world’s pickiest, simplistic, non-adventurous eaters. I can’t say I’ve had it since then but I certainly remember it.
